Children's lamps - more than just a light source

Children's lamps are probably among the most important items of furniture in every child's room. This is because they have to fulfil two functions. On the one hand, they are a source of light and, on the other hand, they are also a means of designing the room. This becomes particularly clear with design children's lamps.

The possible uses are at least as versatile as the range of shapes, colours and materials.

Which children's lamps are there anyway?

First and foremost, the different children's lamps are defined by their function and their use. Basically, all lamps for grown-ups are also available for children - just in the appropriate translation into childlike shapes, colours and motifs.

Pendant lamps or pendant lamps
The lamps hanging from the ceiling are responsible for the basic lighting of the children's room. They cannot be used to illuminate specific zones. But they are good for creating a basic brightness.
The selection is large. The lampshades are available in many colours and designs. The pendant lamps are also a beautiful furnishing item when switched off.
Many companies offer matching cot bedding and other textiles.

Ceiling lamps
These lamps have the same function as pendant lamps. They provide basic lighting. However, unlike these, they are not equipped with a cord and pendant. Attached directly to the ceiling, the ceiling lamps are all about the light source, which is embedded in various shapes and thus becomes the design element of the children's lamp itself.

There is probably no design element with which you can bring so much mood & atmosphere into a (children's) room as with light.
Light means cosiness, but also utility. Because without light there would be no good night stories. At this point, we come full circle back to "lights out".

Desk lamps for children
These lamps are purely functional lights. But that doesn't mean they don't come in pretty childlike versions. However, with desk lamps, the function is clearly in the foreground for good reasons. They should provide bright light and enable good working if daylight is not sufficient.

Nightlights
No type of lamp probably symbolises the children's room or baby's room more than nightlights. They offer orientation in the dark and take away the shyness of the dark. 

Wall lamps
Wall lamps are a source of light, whereby the furnishing character is also in the foreground. They illuminate a defined space and also serve to set the mood in a child's room. Wall lamps are create complementary light and are a nice addition to table lamps.

Table lamps
They are flexible because they can be placed wherever there is space and need. They provide limited but atmospheric light and are a beautiful addition to a child's room.

Furnishing with children's lamps

Children's lamps are a wonderful way to furnish your child's room and create a mood. And this in two ways. 

Moods & Atmosphere with Light
Lighting is one of the most important ways to create cosiness and moods in rooms. This includes the strength and radius of the light source. 
But in the main it is also the colour. Because many of the children's lamps are defined by the colour and motif on the lampshades. And reflect these when switched on. These colours and images create moods and themes.

But table lamps and wall lamps also contribute significantly to the atmosphere. In addition to the above-mentioned colourfulness, partial illumination also plays a role here, with which you produce certain lighting effects

And then there are the figurative lamps, which, in addition to colour, also set lighting accents with their shape. 

Lamps in places where you would not expect them at first, bring a particularly great deal of mood and attention. For example, imagine table lamps integrated into shelves or placed on a wall shelf. Or a figure lamp on the windowsill? This, by the way, is then also a beautiful focal point from outside.

Lamps as objects

But the special thing about children's lamps is also that they shape the image of the children's room when they are switched off. With their shapes and, above all, motifs, they contribute to a particular theme.
In a jungle room, the pendant lamp is adorned with dangerous jungle animals. In a sailor's room, pirates can be seen there. And the room of a princess is embellished by a lamp with a crown.
The same applies to colours. Reflective lampshades, together with the matching wall design, can create wonderful worlds of colour and theme.
